Diamond Park

Description

The 2.1-ha. Diamond Park in the Rossdale neighbourhood was most likely named for the baseball diamond that was built on this site in 1907. In 1906, Frank Gray, a local businessman who owned the Edmonton baseball franchise, leased a parcel of land in the Ross Flats area of the river valley from landowner Donald Ross. He then constructed a sports field that became known as Diamond Park. For many years the park was the site of Edmonton sporting events, including baseball, soccer and football.
